GP Registrars

Sometimes registered doctors who have had extensive hospital experience and who hope to enter general practice will be invited to join the practice for six months or a year to gain insight into the problems with which we deal. The receptionist will tell you who they are when you book an appointment with them. They are fully trained, capable doctors and under our supervision. Please accept them as one of us.

The Practice Manager

The practice manager, Mrs Shan Evans, is responsible for the overall organisation and administration of the practice. If you have any suggestions or complaints, please let her know.

The Practice Nurses

Sister Alyson Lloyd-Thomas and Sister Sarah Cobain are the practice nurses and are available by appointment. They are qualified in specific areas of disease/health promotion management and run various clinics including asthma, diabetes, coronary heart disease and HRT. Other specialised procedures are offered such as contraceptive services, smears, travel vaccination advice and general treatment room procedures of ear syringing, ECGs, dressings and suture removal.
The health care assistant, Mrs Christine Randall, assists the nurses with various duties. A phlebotomist is available by appointment for blood tests.

The Receptionists

The receptionists, led by senior receptionist Mrs Joan Goldsmith, have an important and sometimes difficult job to do, dealing with a constant stream of telephone calls and enquiries, so please be patient. When telephoning for medical attention, the receptionist will ask for a few details. They have been trained to make these enquiries so that you can be helped in the most appropriate way.

THE ATTACHED STAFF

The District Nurses

A team of district nurses provides nursing care, advice and support to patients newly discharged from hospital or patients too ill to attend surgery. The team is based at the surgery and can be contacted on the usual surgery telephone number.

The Community Midwives

A team of midwives are responsible for your care during pregnancy - antenatally, during labour, delivery and postnatally. They are on-call 24 hours a day and can be contacted either via the surgery or on individual mobile telephone numbers.
